Territori che fanno Materia (Territories that Become Matter) is a research and educational workshop developed within the S4T residency in collaboration with Foresta – Accademia di Comunità di Rovereto. The project emerges from a mapping of the Vallagarina territory and investigates how agricultural by-products and bio-waste can be reinterpreted as active resources for new material systems.
The workshop combines territorial research, collective learning, and hands-on experimentation. The first day is dedicated to sharing the mapping process, exploring reference case studies, and experimenting with the transformation of bio-scarti into material outcomes. The second day focuses on design development, where participants translate the insights and experiments into early conceptual proposals. Across both sessions, Territori che fanno Materia frames design as a tool to rethink local material cycles and to reimagine waste not as an end point, but as a generative starting condition. The workshop creates a space for exploration and making, encouraging participants to engage directly with the ecological and productive landscape of Vallagarina.
