About
My name is Alexa Young
She is a biodesigner and researcher working with living ecological systems to explore ecological time and material transformation beyond human control. Her practice engages algae, mycelium, and other biomaterials as active agents in evolving environments where design becomes a negotiation with living processes rather than a form of control.
--------
PhD candidate in Design. Her work combines research, teaching, and experimental practice across European institutions, including IUAV University of Venice and the German University in Cairo.
Her projects have been developed within international research contexts such as MUSAE (Growing Futures) in collaboration with the Basque BioDesign Center, focusing on bio-based systems, material ecologies, and situated design practices.
